Myself, working methods and why London inspires me

I am a London based Artist in love with textiles. I use fabrics, mixed media and textile techniques to create individual wall hung and installation art works. I work in an intuitive way.

I am fanatical about colour and its qualities on different materials.

I like to express the details in everyday life through texture and colour, mixing techniques like appliqué, embroidery, dyeing and surface embellishment.

London inspires me because it is immense and full. Its people and communities, movement and vibration, and rich visual detail and history provides a sensory overload - and spotting the little details and personal touches excites me.

The work I am exhibiting

My installation piece is inspired by everything that ‘London’ represents, including the people, communities and movement. The cobwebs offer a glassy, silent and delicate quality which is contrasted against how they are created – frantic, yet structured - like Londoners weaving their own lives. They are almost invisible and you have to look twice to notice them fully.

The window houses a playful expression of London’s most iconic creatures. Pigeons. They loiter around eyeing up your lunch and flap around your head spraying dirt and dust everywhere. But would you want London without them?
